Manchester is one of the most popular UK cities to visit and it’s easy to see why. With it’s iconic music scene, industrial history and superb shopping. Manchester is bustling with character with a mixture of old and new architecture. If you love quirky vintage shops then Manchester is the place for you. I recently visited Manchester for a weekend away. I have been trying to explore more of the UK and I love heading up North as the people are so friendly!

Annie’s is owned by actress Jennie Mcalpine who plays Fiz in Corrie. I had a lovely hot choc with biscuits. They offer afternoon tea, mains and desserts. They also have a take on the Rovers staple called Annie’s hot pot.
Federal Cafe – This is a New Zealand/Australian cafe which is a great spot for brunch, it was super busy when I went.
Have a drink at Sinclairs’ Oyster bar

I’ve only flown into the airport. I’d really like to visit! How many days do you recommend staying?

At least 2 days. I saw most of the things I wanted to in 2 days but I could have spent a few days more exploring ๐

I actually did only spend 48 hours in Manchester a few years ago. I had to go visit the Manchester United stadium and also took a tour of the underground bomb shelters. There was plenty to do to fill a weekend. I’d love to go back!

Good post! Got to play some shows w/ “oldguard” manchester bands in the 90’s: stone roses, inspiral carpets and they were good, real people. Reminded me of people here in the Midwest US.

I live about half an hour away from Manchester so go there quite often. The Trafford Centre and Arndale centre are great places to go shopping.

These are some of my favourite things to do in Manchester! I love to visit the Museum of Science and Industry, it’s also free and so so interesting (there are real live working trains and looms!). I also once went on a lovely walk down the canal to the roman fort at Castlefield ๐

I only live a short drive away from Manchester, but strangely I have never been – only when I’ve flown from the airport! Maybe I should set aside a few days to pay a visit!

Brought back many memories from my visit there in 1985! I stayed at the Youth Hostel somewhere there and wonder if it’s still around…
